Why Use Jira Automation to Apply Checklist Templates
Using checklists templates saves time, ensures that all required steps get completed, and standardizes processes across Jira work items. Applying checklist templates via Jira automation propels work items through your workflow and bakes your processes into Jira.
This sample Jira automation rule allows you to apply a checklist template when a work item is transitioned to a new Jira status.
Jira Checklist Automation Rule: Apply Checklist Template on Transition
1. Ensure the Apply checklist templates via labels global setting is enabled.
2. Note the name of the template you wish to apply, and ensure that the name does not include spaces.

3. Navigate to Space Settings > Automation (or Jira Settings > System > Automation rules).
4. Click Create rule.
5. Select the Work item transitioned trigger.
6. Select the appropriate From status and To status
7. Click Next.
8. Click Then: Add action and select Edit work item.
9. Select Labels as the field to be edited, and enter the name of the template.
10. Click Next.
Name the rule and click Turn it on.
